MAKE Design Studio designed and built this modern chicken coop for their chickens in urban Seattle. The coop is on castors for ease of movement. A hinged door provides easy access to the egg filled nesting box located on the backside of the coop. The coop can become a chicken tractor by lifting the upper coop structure off the castor floor assembly. This is ideal for areas that need to have grass and weeds removed or soil aerated and fertilized. If you are interested in building your own modern chicken coop, you can find free plans and a material list for our coop as well as several other modern chicken coops in a new book called, Reinventing the Chicken Coop by Kevin McElroy and Matthew Wolpe and published by Storey Publishing.
